About me
I am from Bangkok, Thailand, grew up in a single-parent household with my mom and older brother, and immigrated to the U.S. at age 10. As an adolescent, I witnessed my mom going through her first psychotic break and ended up being untreated and living in homeless shelters for a decade. I witnessed my brother interacting with the mental health care system, being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. My struggles have been deeply painful and I went into the mental health care field in order to make a change. Enough is enough. I am now a physician, completed psychiatry residency at Yale University. In my work, I hope to empower individuals with lived experience (including family members) and bridge the gap to the mental health system. I hope to continue to honor our collective humanity and dignity and contribute to a more equitable and just system.
