About me
Mike decided to work in mental health due to his journey through the mental health system after being diagnosed with schizophrenia when he was 22 years old. Mike received a BA in psychology from the University of Washington in 2013 and worked as a peer specialist in Washington State. There he served on a Mobile Outreach Crisis Team and then transitioned to a role as a peer bridger supporting people reentering the community after long-term psychiatric commitments. Mike received a Masters in Social Work from the University at Albany (SUNY) in 2023. He is now a primary clinician with OntrackNY, a first episode psychosis program serving the capital region of NY. Mike has also worked in wilderness therapy with adolescents and young adults in Vermont. He thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2008 which was a turning point in his ability to heal from his experiences with psychosis. Mike is a father, a husband, a musician and enjoys the wild.
